How long will it take to finish one hour of audio?

The normal quote is 3-4 business days for one hour of audio.  This depends on the current workload.  If you need your project back sooner, please include your requested return date on your submission form.

If we cannot fulfill your request, you will be notified before work begins.

Choosing the RUSH option is a consideration.

When does the turnaround time begin? 

The clock starts ticking the day after the audio/video is received.  Example: If a 48 hour turnaround time is requested, and files are uploaded Monday at 2 PM EST, Tuesday will be Day One, Wednesday Day Two, with the completed transcript returned Wednesday by 2 PM EST. 

Files received after 5 PM will be uploaded the following day and the clock begins.  Example:  For a 48 hour turnaround request, files uploaded Monday at 6 PM EST; Day One would be Wednesday, Day Two Thursday, with files returned by 5 PM EST on this date. 

Are there any factors that might delay the turnaround time?

The most common obstacle in delaying turnaround times is difficult audio that is considered good.

Background noises that are not audible to the client can often be picked up by the transcriptionist.  

Heavy or difficult accents is another. 

Researching names, book titles, countries, etc. can also cause a delay.  It is helpful to include any repetitive words or phrases to cut down on research time. 

Please note that obstacles, as mentioned above can delay transcription up to 24 hours. 

Do you charge more for RUSH jobs?

Yes. The rate depends on the turnaround time requested and quality of the audio.  

The standard rate for 24 hour turnaround request is $60.00 per audio hour for one hour of audio.  Please see Rates page if you require a quicker turnaround time.  

Rush order requests will depend on the current workload.  You will be notified before work begins if a Rush request cannot be completed.

What type of proofing do you do?

I proof to audio and not just spell check.

What if I have a specific format that I want to use?

No problem.  You would need to forward it to me along with any special instructions.
 

Do you offer a discount for large projects?

Fingers4Hire rates are extremely competitive with the current market, but we can offer a slight discount for projects of 10 hours or more.

I have CD's that I need transcribed.  Can you do those?

Yes. I have never had a problem with packages mailed to me.  The CD's can be returned or destroyed, at your request.
